Humane Society of Stanislaus County

The Humane Society of Stanislaus County (HSSC) is a small 501c3 animal rescue, welfare, and education organization. Our animals are kept in foster homes to increase their chance at finding a forever home. We are an organization ran solely by volunteers. Ambreen's Rescue

Ambreen was found by a Good Samaritan in Stanislaus County and we were contacted for assistance. Ambreen was immediately taken in for emergency care. A rope/make-shift collar that was around her neck was only 21 cm in circumference. It must have been on her since she was a pup. It was full-thickness embedment nearly all the way around her neck (probably 3/4 affected). She was timid at first but warmed up to us quickly and allowed the vet staff to gently clean her wounds without making any fuss before she left the clinic post-surgery. She's a sweet little girl. Infested with fleas and ticks (we probably pulled over 30 ticks off of her). Her recovery will be long, but she has good spirit despite the inhumane treatment she's suffered for the last several months.

Fosters Needed

THIS IS THE MOST DIRECT WAY THAT YOU CAN HELP US SAVE LIVES!

Open your home to a rescued animal and provide transportation to/from adoption events and any necessary medical appointments. HSSC covers all medical expenses related to the foster animal. We can also supply food and crates, if needed.

Without fosters we can't pull more animals that are on the euthanasia list at government ran shelters in our county.

"Park Puppies"

Many of you have been following our "Park Puppies" progress. We want to take the time to thank everyone for their kinds words, thoughts and donations. Meet Opal, Oswald, Louie, Ruby, Journey, Dutchess, and Romeo! They are more than ready for their forever families. They are estimated to be 16 weeks old and have started vaccinations, been microchipped, dewormed and treated for fleas.

Click the LoveAnimals.org line below to donate to the remaining 2 pups who still need some TLC:

Other Ways to Help

"Park Puppies"

A litter of 9 severely emaciated and dehydrated puppies, so weak from hunger that some could barely stand, were dumped at a local park. Stanislaus Animals Services Agency (SASA) picked up the puppies and reached out to the Humane Society of Stanislaus County (HSSC) for assistance.

HSSC has taken them into our rescue and adoptions program. They will need weeks of rehab, a couple of pups may even take months to recover. The puppies will require special diets as well as vitamin supplements, along with routine medications for de-worming. We have been advised that some may suffer long term effects from being starved.

Medical expenses add up quickly when there are 9 lives at stake! Click the LoveAnimals.org line below to help us raise $5,000 to help cover treatments and care:
